AUDITIONS
The Lilac Players are holding open auditions for our upcoming cabaret “Scared Queer: Get Out! The Vote”
This cabaret is Halloween-themed, and open to all manner of acts! You can sing, you can dance, you can spin, you can read poetry. As long as it’s spooky and/or political, this is the venue for you. If you’re passionate about LGBTQIA+ activism, feminism, voting, and Halloween, come out and share your passion with us. The event will be a compilation of creepy performances with a focus on getting our audience excited about voting in the November election. We’ll provide information about the ballot questions and voting locations, and computers where folks can register to vote (for the next election, since it will be too late for November if they haven’t already). We’ll be embracing the Halloween spirit, the queerness in all of us, and our spooky political system.
Audition Date: Saturday, September 22nd from 2:00-5:00pm at The Green Room (62 Bow Street, Somerville MA 02143)
Performance Date: 4:00-6:30 PM, Saturday, October 27th at the Democracy Center (45 Mt. Auburn St. Cambridge 02138)
What to prepare for auditions:
1) A short pitch of what spooky performance you would like to do in our cabaret. All types of performance allowed! If you have no idea but really want to be involved, you can pitch your performance type (like singing) and the message you’re passionate about, and we can brainstorm together if you’re cast.
2) A short performance of something! It does not need to be what you are pitching, but please show the same skills (ie: if you would like to do a burlesque dance in the cabaret, please don’t sing for your audition). We will have a pianist for auditions so please bring sheet music if you are planning on singing.
If you can’t make the live auditions but still want to participate, please send your performance pitch and a short video of yourself to thelilacplayers@gmail.com
PLEASE NOTE: All roles in this production and organization are volunteer.
