An Important Announcement

In light of the developing situation surrounding COVID-19, the Lilac Players Board of Directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone our upcoming production of CABARET, which had been scheduled for the last two weekends in May 2020.

In our current environment, we cannot ask our cast and crew to place themselves, their loved ones, and our community at risk by continuing to hold rehearsals and prepare for a spring show.

We plan to perform CABARET this fall at the
Mosesian Center for the Arts, as originally arranged. The new dates are still being confirmed with the rights company, and will be publicly announced as soon as we have received their approval.

All members of the current cast & crew still available for the new dates are guaranteed their roles.

We look forward to seeing you later this year, and hope to have at least one public performance this summer before CABARET. Be safe, stay healthy, and make plenty of time for music and for community in new and creative ways.

Much Love--

About this show:

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the CABARET. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, CABARET explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Musical numbers include “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Two Ladies.”
