Our debut musical production!

The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a delightfully baudy show-within-a-show, based on Charles Dickens’ final, unfinished novel. The setting: a Victorian music hall, populated by all manner of colorful characters. The plot: a fast-paced murder mystery where anyone could be the culprit, and the audience decides!

Victorian music halls were an early venue for actors and audiences to explore non-traditional gender presentations. Male and female impersonators were an important part of this culture, and were treated much more seriously than their earlier pantomime counterparts. The combination of strict Dickensian gender roles with the free-for-all music hall setting creates an exciting dichotomy that The Lilac Players explored in our debut performance!

THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD is presented by arrangement with TAMS-WITMARK, www.tamswitmark.com
